CEREC Same Day Crowns – Fairfax, VA
Fast, Strong, and Beautiful Dental Restorations
Have you ever had to receive a dental crown? You may remember a time-consuming and inconvenient process that involved messy impressions, a temporary crown, and a long waiting period while a dental laboratory created your restoration. CEREC same day crowns in Fairfax are different. We use this remarkable technology in our office to help patients experience a more comfortable, more efficient dental restoration process.
What Is CEREC?
CEREC is an acronym that stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, or CEramic REConstruction. The system includes an advanced digital impressions system that takes detailed, accurate images of a patient’s teeth. We use those impressions, along with advanced software, to design your new crown or bridge. Once we finalize the design, it goes to our in-house ceramic milling unit, which then creates the restoration out of a single block of dental-grade porcelain.
What Happens During the CEREC Process?
First, we evaluate your dental health and determine whether a CEREC crown is right for you. Almost always, anyone who is a candidate for a traditional crown can receive a CEREC restoration. Then, we prepare your tooth to receive its new crown. Often, this requires that we remove a portion of the enamel so the tooth will fit well beneath the crown.
It takes just a few minutes for us to take a digital impression of your teeth. Unlike traditional physical impressions, there is no messy putty or bulky impression trays involved. Plus, digital impressions tend to be much more accurate than physical ones, which reduces the need for retakes.
After we design your crown, you’ll get to relax for a bit while the CEREC machine creates it. Once it is ready, we’ll verify that the fit is perfect before we attach it to your tooth.
What Are the Benefits of CEREC?
Some of the most outstanding benefits of the CEREC system include:
- CEREC dental crowns in Fairfax are just as beautiful, durable, and functional as crowns that are created in a third-party dental laboratory. The porcelain looks just like natural tooth enamel so it will blend in seamlessly with your natural smile. You can expect your crown to last for several years — perhaps a decade or longer.
- There is no need for you to wear a temporary crown. Temporary crowns may easily fall off or be uncomfortable. Since the CEREC process is so fast, it’s not necessary for you to wear a provisional restoration while you’re waiting for your permanent one.
- You can save a significant amount of time. Designing and placing a CEREC crown takes just one appointment. The traditional crown process requires two appointments.
- The CEREC process is fascinating to watch!
