How Dental Insurance Works
A dental insurance policy is a unique agreement between an insurer, patient, and/or an employer. That means your dental benefit plan will not be exactly like any other policy, so before we provide an estimate of exact insurance coverage, we’ll need to take a look at your unique benefit plan. In most cases, insurance policies provide the most coverage for preventive care and a reduced percentage of coverage for restorative care. You can typically expect the following:
- 100% preventive care covered
- Minor restorative care around 70%-80% covered
- Major restorative care around 50%
What is the Difference Between Dental Insurance & Medical Insurance?
There are numerous differences between dental and medical insurance coverage. For instance, medical insurance plans are much more restrictive when it comes to which physicians receive coverage. PPO dental insurance plans allow patients to receive coverage at almost any dentistry office. Perhaps the most important difference between medical and dental benefits is the treatment focus. Medical insurance is geared toward covering treatments for chronic illnesses and serious health issues. Dental insurance focuses on preventive services to help patients keep their smiles healthy.
In-Network VS Out of Network Dentistry
PPO dental benefit plans are created to give patients the flexibility to choose whatever dentistry office meets their unique needs. However, when dentists are in-network with your insurer, you may have lower out of pocket costs and faster turnaround for requests. We are happy to process and file claims for both in and out of network dental insurance policies, and we always do our utmost to keep your out of pocket treatment costs to a minimum.
In-Network Insurance Plans
For your convenience, we’ve partnered with a number of insurance providers to offer in-network coverage. This means you can rest assured that you will have the lowest out of pocket costs and receive maximum coverage for any dentistry services. We are in-network with all of the following insurance policies:
- Delta Dental
Out of Network Insurance Plans
We are also happy to process and file claims for out of network insurers. While we don’t have existing agreements to charge fees within these insurance providers’ maximum pricing, we go above and beyond to keep our treatment costs reasonable. In most cases, our prices fall within your insurer’s set range of covered fees. If you have questions or concerns about your coverage or pricing, please don’t hesitate to give our team a call.
