Fairfax Porcelain Veneers
A gorgeous smile isn’t something many patients are born with. When you see those beautiful celebrity smiles on the covers of magazine, you’re probably looking at the results of skilled cosmetic dentistry (or photoshopping) not naturally flawless smiles. At Fairfax Dental, we offer numerous comfortable, effective, affordable cosmetic dentistry solutions to meet any need. Porcelain veneers are some of the most popular cosmetic treatments we offer. These sheaths of porcelain can correct any number of cosmetic flaws, and they are placed in just two short office visits. If you want to learn more about porcelain veneers or any of our other treatment options, call our Fairfax dental team to schedule your cosmetic dentistry consultation today.
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are thin sheaths crafted from dental grade porcelain. Once in place, porcelain veneers look like a beautiful smile, and they preserve your healthy natural tooth structure. Porcelain veneers conceal cosmetic flaws like chips, cracks, stains, and gaps in the smile without requiring patients to undergo complex treatments.
Who Should Consider Veneer?
Any patient who wants to brighten, straighten, or perfect their smile should consider porcelain veneers. Some of the situations where veneers may be the best possible cosmetic solution include:
- Patients who have deep set staining across their smiles that can’t be removed with traditional whitening
- Patients who want to correct years of dental wear, chips, cracks, or stains without investing time and money in more extensive, invasive tooth repair plans
- Patients who have mild orthodontic alignment concerns like gapping or crowding that doesn’t necessarily require advanced realignment, using braces or other orthodontic options
How are Porcelain Veneers Placed?
If you decide to move forward with porcelain veneer treatment, the process can be completed in just two short dental office visits. During your initial appointment, we prepare your teeth by removing any damaged structure as well as a small amount of surface enamel. Th removed surface tooth structure allows us to place the porcelain veneer without impacting your smile line. Once your teeth are prepared, we capture impressions that will be used by our trusted dental lab to create your flawless smile. Before you leave, we’ll place a temporary veneer to protect your prepared teeth. When we receive the final restoration, you’ll return to our office to exchange your temporary for a gorgeous, custom porcelain veneer.
How do I Care for My Veneers?
After your porcelain veneer is in place, you can go back to brushing and flossing as usual. You should also keep up with six month visits to our Fairfax dental office. We may encourage you to change some of your oral hygiene products to protect your new veneers. Porcelain can wear down over time, so you may want to use a softer bristled toothbrush and minimally abrasive toothpaste to avoid wearing down the porcelain too quickly. Using waxed floss may also be beneficial since other types of floss can snag and pull around the edges of the veneers.
